Where to Seek Medical Care?

home > knowledge center > where to seek medical care?

If you are an international student and seek immediate medical care then best place to go for relief is the Student Health Center. In most universities, medical visits are free, but you have to pay for x-ray, lab work and pharmacy. After initial care, the medical professionals might send you to the appropriate doctor or other medical provider for further treatment where you can pay through your insurance. Keep in mind, the health care in the United States is very good but at the same time very expensive. Therefore, proper knowledge about how much insurance will pay and what will be your responsibility is very important and it will help you to take informed decision.

Finally, do ask questions. Asking question will help to clear your doubts. If you do have some questions about your treatment that your doctor is recommending then ask your doctor for details. If you have any questions regarding insurance policy, ask your international student advisor or your insurance company for explanation.
